At least 30 Russian missiles have hit a huge Ukrainian military base just 10 kilometers from the Polish border.

The military base is located 60 km from the center of the western Ukrainian city of Lviv.

At least 35 people were killed and 134 were injured, according to the Lviv regional governor.

Russia warned yesterday (Saturday) that Western troops would be a "legitimate target" for Ukraine. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a military base near the Polish border.

At the Yavoriv military base, which covers an area of about 390 square kilometers, the Ukrainian army used to conduct joint exercises with the NATO forces. Neto trainers also trained Ukrainian troops here.

It was not immediately clear if any foreign military instructors were present at the time of the attack. However, US military trainers were also present in February.

Putin could become even more reckless with miscalculations

How much will Vladimir Putin be able to handle the war?

The massive military base is home to about 1,600 people, but it is unclear how many were there at the time of the attack.

Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksiy Reynikov tweeted, "This is another new terrorist attack on peace and security near the EU-NATO border."
